Reflecting on 2021

Letter from the Chair, 2021

I’ve been looking back on the letter that was sent out at the end of 2020, and the beginning part mentions how it was a year that changed how we lived, worked and spent time with family and friends. 2021 however didn’t feel like the new start we were all expecting but once again, we have been resilient and strong and gotten through another year.

As we all know, the pandemic at present is ever evolving and the consequences of the fall out started to become apparent as the months ate away in 2021 with not only Covid but also Brexit.

Logistics was and continues to be very challenging and delays unavoidable. This puts tremendous strain on the economy as a whole, but we strived to continue to provide high levels of service to our customers and enjoyed some good company growth.

Our news,

We successfully sailed the Brexit white waters and started with our navigation and preparation for UK REACH, in conjunction with a very competent firm of consultants. In this partnership, we were able to receive our DUIN certificate and Trader License, which has enabled us to continue with confidence, our trade with our European customers.

We were successful in achieving our ISO 14001 certification. Again, with the guidance of our consultant, we manged to navigate, understand, and put into practice what is required to receive and maintain this wonderful mark of achievement.

We attended and had our own stand the SCS Formulate Exhibition, which was held in November in Coventry. It was a rounding success and well attended given the Covid circumstances and travel restrictions. We were very proud to have our colleagues from Kahl Wax on the stand with us too.

Sadly, Michelle Cheverton left our shores for the Lone Star state of Texas, a move which she and her family are enjoying and keeps us regularly updated with their life in America.

We will begin the process of looking for a new eCommerce manager for our online 1875 shop, in the New Year.

Kirsty Mitchell was hired as our Office Manager and was warmly welcomed into our work family, a role which she is enjoying and looking forward to growing with the company.

New products and formulations will be shared next year, adding to our wonderful portfolio. The launch of the Stephesons range of Crystal products to the online shop this past year was and continues to be a great success.

Finally, I would like to thank our suppliers and customers for all their support in 2021 and wish you all a very merry, healthy and safe, Festive Season.

Simon
